TOP 10 COINS!!!

$1 2000 10c mule ($500), A $1 10c mule is a $1 coin that has been struck with a 10c “Head”. As the the 10c coin is smaller then the $1 coin, the 10c strike can be easily seen with the head fitting inside the rim of the coin where usually the the the $1 head would be flush with the rim of the coin. The reason it’s so rare is that usually coins that have been miss-struck are removed and destroyed by the mint, so very rarely do error coins get past the mint’s quality control. Additionally 2000 $1 mules have only been found in Perth, making them highly sort after in the eastern states.

It is estimated that only 6000 $1 mules exist. I found this on while noodling through coins from the bank.

$1 2000 10c mule ($400),

same as above except slightly worse for ware.

1966 20c “Wavy” 20c ($175)

Back in 1966, the Australian Government needed to outsource some of its coin minting to other mints due to the shear volume of 20c coins that need to be minted (58M) in the change over from the pound to the dollar. The “Wavy” 20c coin is variety of 20c coins that were minted in the London mint. The different tail (where the baseline of the 20c is wavy instead of flat in other 20c coins) of the coin occurred due to the use of a different die (what the mint uses to stamp the metal to make the coin) during a line of production at the London Mint.

No-one knows the exact mintage of the variety, but they are excepted as being very rare. I found mine while noodling through bank coins.

2012 $2 Poppy ($125)

The $2 poppy is the first circulated coin to be colored and was released alongside the non-colored $2 poppy to commemorate remembrance day.

Along with it being a rare $2 coin, the colored red poppy in its center makes it stand out as a beautiful piece of Australian coinage.

I won the coin along with it’s original RSL card (Released by RSL for fundraising) from facebook for only $20. Only 500 thousand of these coins were minted with the highest quality coin being worth over $2,000.

2020 Skippy PNC ($50)

The 2020 “Skippy” Postal Numismatic Cover features a colored 50c coin of Skippy the Bush Kangaroo from the well loved 1967-69 TV show with a stamp of the common WA plant “Kangaroo Paw”.

This PNC is unique for its colored 50c design and was quick quickly bought by collectors with it’s resale price doubling the original RRP of $29,95 once it had been sold out.

I was lucky and manged to get mine from my local post office even after its resale price had doubled. You never know what treasures you can find at your local post office.

2014 Remembrance PNC ($75)

The 2014 $2 Remembrance Postal Numismatic Cover is the 2nd in line of the colored $2 remembrance series and the 3rd colored $2 overall. It features green coloring with a dove of peace and rays of sunshine to commemorate remembrance of WW1.

I purchased this coin online for $45 at a 14,500 mintage (on the higher side).

2019 Police PNC ($40)

This Postal Numismatic Cover commemorates Australia’s police force with a $2 coin colored in the police colors of blue and white.

I purchased this beautiful coin for $50 (an unfortunate over-priced purchase) online for a mintage of 7,000.

ANZAC 2014-2018 Coin Set ($35)

This coin set contains all uncirculated (untouched by human hands) coins from the ANZAC circulating coins series. This coin series was minted from 2014 to 2018 in remembrance of WW1 and can be found in your common change. The 2014 ANZAC coin was the most minted at ~22M with 2015 to 2018 coin minted at 1.4/2.19/1.9/2M respectively, making this a significant set of low minted coins.

I purchased this set at a post office for $35.

2017 Bananas In Pajamas PNC ($35)

This PNC brings back memories of a simpler time of primary school, playdates and enjoyed watching our favorite bananas on TV.

This PNC includes the only non-circulated 5c coin and gives great respect to the characters of the show through its imaging.

I got this PNC at my local post office for RRP $29.95

2020 $1 ANDA Berlin Special with Pretzel Privy Mark ($30)

This coin comes from a special release from ANDA (Australian Numismatics Dealers Association) at the World Money Fair in Berlin start of 2020.

The coin is the classic $1 but with a special addition, if you look closely you will find a small pretzel bellow one of the kangaroos.

I bought this coin online for $25.
